X-Rings
The renowned X-ring, designed by Cameron’s Jewellery in 1942, continues to be made today using the original Cameron’s design and specifications. It is beautifully handcrafted using ethically-sourced metals and features the signature hard-baked enamel X within a raised metal square with the dates of graduation flanking the shoulders of the ring. The inside of the ring provides a space for engraving, providing a means of identification, for example, with the inscription of one’s initials and degree. While the fundamental nature (i.e., the style) is the same for all X-rings, they vary in metal, color, karat, size (weight), and cost.
X-rings are made in both gold and sterling silver. The gold X-rings can be further differentiated by color (i.e., yellow, white, and rose) and by karat or gold content (i.e.,10kt or 14kt). And, as the term suggests, the sterling silver X-rings are silver in colour.
Just as individuals come in many sizes, so too, do their finger sizes! Thus, to best accommodate individual’s specifications, a variety of style #s that best suit a predetermined range of finger sizes was developed by the manufacturer. They are the Pinkie, the #2, #6, #8, #9, and #10. For example, the Pinkie, more often than not, worn on the ring finger, is the smallest X-ring and best suits individuals whose fingers measure up to and include size 7. Beyond size 7, however, the #2 is deemed most suitable and remains so for individuals with a finger size up to and including size 8. The #6 is ideal for individuals whose fingers measure just above size 8 and extends to those who measure up to size 9. Style #8 is most appropriate for those whose finger measurements range from above size 9 to size 10. Style #9 is best for those individuals who measure above size 10 up to size 11 while style #10 is best for those measuring above size 11 but not exceeding size 13.
